At the end of August 2017, we watched in horror as Hurricane Harvey ripped through Texas and wrecked havoc on the Houston area. Hurricane Harvey quickly became the costliest tropical cyclone on record, causing almost $200 billion of damage, and surpassing the records set by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 (source). In addition to monetary losses, Hurricane Harvey and the resulting flooding caused the heartbreaking loss of at least 82 people, according to The Washington Post.
Our hearts went out to the victims and their families motivating Dr. Rogge and his team to do what they could to aid Hurricane Harvey victims
Doing Our Part to Help Hurricane Harvey Victims
Between September 1 and October 31, Dr. Rogge generously offered to donate 50% of the payments of all bleach whitening treatments to support Hurricane Harvey victims. The offer was heavily promoted in his Longmont dentist office and online through Facebook. Arrangements were made to donate all money raised to the American Red Cross to assist with the relief effort.
Our patients commented that they had been thinking about doing teeth whitening for awhile, so it was perfect timing. Patients were able to get a brilliantly white smile and half of their payment was going to a great cause.
Results of our Hurricane Harvey Promotion
Our fundraising effort was a tremendous success. We were able to raise $1,475 from the teeth whitening treatments! Dr. Rogge was so touched by the stories of those who are still dealing with the aftermath of this tragedy, that he donated an additional $525 to make a $2,000 donation to the American Red Cross.
This is just one more reason why Dr. Rogge continues to be the Best Dentist in Longmont. If he cares this much for people he’s never met, you can be sure that he will treat you and your family with true empathy and sincere concern.
“The outpouring of support from my Longmont patients was truly heartwarming. They inspired me to do all I could to bring some smiles back to the ones affected by this tragedy in the Houston area. I want to thank all those who participated.” — Dr. Cliff Rogge, Longmont Dentist
According to The Red Cross, the following efforts have already been achieved:
- Disbursed over $229 million to over 573,000 households
- Served over 4.5 million meals and snacks
- Provided over 434,00 overnight stays in shelters
Although our efforts may be relatively small, we are grateful to our patients who participated in this promotion to help those who need it in whatever way they can. If our community had to face this level of disaster, we know our fellow Americans would do the same to help us.
For many people in Houston, life is still slowly returning to normal. We know our patients work very hard for their money and we were deeply moved by their generosity. If you’re interested in doing more to help victims get their lives back on track from this or another disaster, you can donate to The Red Cross directly.
